The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced it received a record-breaking submission of scripts for the upcoming Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) this year.

In its Facebook page, MMDA said it received 26 script entries for the 49th edition of MMFF.

The selection process will be conducted by MMFF Selection Committee Head Jesse Ejercito.

Four best scripts will be chosen based on the following criteria: 40% for artistic excellence, another 40% for commercial appeal, 10% for Filipino cultural sensibility, and 10% for global appeal.

In a statement, MMDA Acting Chairperson Atty. Don Artes showed his support for local filmmakers.

“Thank you to our filmmakers who submitted their script entries and for supporting the 49th MMFF. Let us all watch and support local films and enjoy it with our families and friends this holiday season,” Artes said.

Film script submissions are until Sept. 29. – gb
