True to its mandate of informing, inspiring, and empowering Filipinos through relevant, credible, and quality information and content, the People’s Television Network, Inc. (PTV) will continue to serve as the government’s premiere media partner in further strengthening the administration’s communications efforts.

This, as former Taguig City Mayor as well as esteemed director and producer Lino Edgardo Cayetano takes the helm of PTV as its new general manager, replacing outgoing Network chief and veteran television executive Maria Lourdes Choa-Fagar.

Cayetano took his oath of office before Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Secretary Dave Gomez in Malacañang on Thursday.

The PCO chief earlier noted that Cayetano’s extensive experience in public service and the entertainment industry would help steer the Network to “greater heights in our ever-evolving multimedia landscape.”

GM Lino said he is looking forward to further improving the state-run television network and its services, building on the reforms and programs laid out by his predecessor.

“PTV is so important in delivering information to our people and I think the next big step is just to continue to grow the number of viewers and the number of people who we can reach,” he said. (with report from Elijah Canlas / PTV News)
