OFWs reminded to get jab 4 months before scheduled deployment

The Department of Health (DOH) on Sunday (Aug. 22) reminded outbound overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) to get vaccinated four months before their scheduled deployment.

Based on the re-categorization of priority groups for the vaccine rollout earlier in June, outbound OFWs are listed under the expanded A1 priority group for the COVID-19 vaccination.Ā

According to the DOH, OFWs need to present proof of deployment – including Overseas Employment Contract/Certificate or Seaman’s Book – from their manning agencies to be able to get jabbed with the COVID-19 vaccine.

OFWs must register with their respective local government units (LGUs) and secure a schedule for their vaccination.

OFWs are advised to receive their first and second doses of COVID-19 vaccines from the same LGU. However, the second dose can also be administered by other LGUs, given that the second jab is of the same brand as the first shot.

The DOH also reiterated that the proper interval between the first and second dose of vaccine administration should be observed. – CF-bny
