Pag-IBIG offers P150-K loan to ‘Ompong’-affected members

MANILA — Pag-IBIG Fund is offering up to PHP150,000 loan to eligible members, whose homes have been affected heavily by Typhoon Ompong (international name Mangkhut), MalacaƱang announced Monday.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said qualified Pag-IBIG members will just have to show pictures of their house and the title of their property for them to qualify for house repair loan.

ā€œWala na pong mga ibang mga requirements (na) hihingiin ang Pag-IBIG at sila na rin po ang tutulong para ma-annotate iyong pagkakautang na PHP150,000 sa mga titulo ninyo (Pag-IBIG will not ask for other requirements, and they will assist you to annotate your PHP150,000 loan in your title),ā€ Roque said.

According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), “Ompong” has left PHP14.3 billion in damage to agriculture and PHP4.4 billion to public infrastructure when it hit northern Luzon last week.

The council also reported that a total of 117,685 houses were damaged in the Ilocos region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon and the Cordillera Administrative Region, affecting 507,945 families or 2.1 million persons including in Region4-A (Calabarzon), 4-B (Mimaropa), and the National Capital Region.

The typhoon’s death toll has reached nearly 90, many of them due to landslides in mining sites of Itogon, Benguet and Naga, Cebu.

Roque said the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has provided PHP25,000 financial assistance to the families of the affected miners.

He said President Rodrigo Duterte also gave PHP20,000, while the Social Security System (SSS) has extended PHP20,000 funeral benefits to its affected members.

Roque said the SSS is also offering pension loans equivalent to two-month salary.

ā€œIn three weeks’ time, SSS will release PHP60 million pension loan for victims in Itogon and Naga,ā€ Roque said.

He said SSS and Pag-IBIG will release PHP362 million and PHP500 million in calamity loan for victims of Ompong. (Jelly Musico/PNA)
