Palace willing to cooperate with human rights investigators

Katipunan, Zamboanga del Norte — Malacanang on Saturday, March 3, expressed willingness to cooperate with human rights investigators.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque made this announcement to explain the Palace stance in case there is a UN probe which asks for the participation of the police in a press briefing held in the Sangguniang Bayan Building here in Zamboanga del Norte.

Secretary Roque further said that government cooperation would be extended to those who have no conclusion and simply wanted to know the facts in the government’s campaign against illegal drugs.

The President’s spokesperson added that the deaths in the current drug war were results of legitimate police operations, and if there were unlawful deaths, such as in the case of Kian de los Santos, the President would order their (police) punishment.

In the same press briefing, Presidential Spokesperson Roque announced that Zamboanga City will soon have a modern, first-class international airport.

Roque mentioned that there is now an ongoing feasibility study with a team of engineers visiting Zamboanga City to conduct an environmental and social impact study of the airport project.

The current Zamboanga airport is included in the top ten busiest airports in the Philippines for 2017 with 8,870 aircraft movements, 1 million passenger movements and 13 million cargo movements, according to the figures of the Department of Tourism. ### PCO-Content
