PH issues advisory in Syria amid airstrikes, bombing

MANILA — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Monday issued a new advisory to remaining Filipinos in Syria in the wake of airstrikes and a terror bombing in Damascus.

The Philippine Embassy in Damascus urged Filipinos living in the vicinity to stay indoors and avoid unnecessary movements.

Several locations in the Syrian capital were subjected to missile strikes, according to the embassy.

On Sunday, Damascus was also rocked by a huge explosion on a highway near the southern suburbs.

According to state-run Syrian Arab News Agency, there is “confirmed information” about the arrest of a terrorist after the blast.

Embassy Charge d’Affaires Alex Lamadrid, on the other hand, said none of the 1,000 members of the Filipino community were affected by the two incidents.
