Police hunting poll officer’s killers

MANILA—A gunman known as ‘Bayawak’ is being sought by authorities in connection with the killing of a local Commission on Elections (Comelec) officer Noel Alvarez Miralles last Monday at Bauan, Batangas.

In a report, Police Senior Inspector Hazel Luma-Ang Suarez, Batangas Provincial Police Office Public Information Office chief, said eyewitnesses identified ‘Bayawak’ as one of the assailants in the shooting of Miralles last June 11 at the National Road, Kapt. Ponso St., Poblacion 4, Bauan, Batangas.

The victim was standing in front of the Citi Mart Bauan and waiting for a passenger jeepney when he was fired upon by motorcycle-riding gunmen.

The victim was declared dead on arrival by Dr. Aries J. Bautista at the Bauan General Hospital.
