PRRD reserves special powers

President Rodrigo Duterte has stated that he is reserving the use of special powers granted to him by Congress.

According to the President, the power to command the operations of private establishments and businesses will be used only when it is gravely needed.

President Duterte has also expressed gratitude towards individuals, groups, and big corporations that are helping the government in the fight against the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).

“On behalf of the Filipino people, I thank you [for your] compassion and your generosity, and my personal gratitude. There are now only two powers in the law that I reserve strictly for myself: One is the power to direct the operation of private establishments. The other is the power to require businesses to prioritize contracts for materials and services necessary for the crisis. I will exercise these powers only when absolutely necessary.” President Duterte expressed.
