The southwest monsoon (habagat) enhanced by Typhoon #FalconPH will continue to bring rain showers over Western Luzon and bring strong winds over most areas of the island and Western Visayas, the weather bureau said Tuesday, Aug. 1.

In its 4:00 a.m. weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said occasional to monsoon rains will continue over the western portion of Luzon in the next three days.

Flooding and rain-induced landslides remain highly likely, especially in areas highly susceptible to these hazards, PAGASA said.

Falcon packs maximum sustained winds of 175 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 215 kph.

Falcon’s wind field is very expansive so the hoisting of wind signal No. 1 over Batanes is not ruled out, PAGASA said.

The enhanced habagat will bring gusty conditions over Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Abra, Benguet, Zambales, Bataan, the central and southern portions of Aurora, Pampanga, Bulacan, Metro Manila, and most of Ilocos Region, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol Region, and Western Visayas.

It will also cause moderate to rough seas over the coastal waters along the northern, western and southern seaboards of Luzon.

Mariners of small sea vessels are advised to take precautionary measures when venturing over these waters.

The typhoon was last tracked 925 kilometers east northeast of extreme Northern Luzon, and is forecast to exit within the day, PAGASA said. – gb
