The southwest monsoon or “habagat” will cause rains over many areas in the country, the weather bureau said on Monday, July 18.

Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms are forecast over Bicol Region, Mimaropa, the Visayas, Caraga, Northern Mindanao, Zamboanga Peninsula, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said flash floods or landslides are likely in these areas during moderate to at times heavy rains.

While the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies, Aldczar Aurelio of PAGASA said isolated rain showers due to thunderstorms are likely in the afternoon or evening.

“We are not monitoring a new low pressure area (LPA) inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility,” he added.

Meanwhile, Tuguegarao’s temperature will reach up to 34 °C; up to 33 °C in Metro Manila; up to 32 °C in Legazpi and Laoag. Baguio’s temperature is up to 21 °C.

Zamboanga, Tacloban and Davao’s temperature is up to 32 °C.

Moderate winds, moderate seas will prevail over the northern and western sections of Luzon.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas. (PNA)
