BAGUIO CITY — A school for aspiring policemen in this upland region has partnered with educational institutions and civic organizations for various educational and community service collaborations to inculcate social responsibility among its students.
The Philippine Public Safety College’s National Police Training Institute in the Cordillera Administrative Region Training Center (PPSC-CARTC) said on Wednesday that the memoranda of agreement (MOAs) signed by its director, Supt. Carter Panganiban Ballunes, include those with the University of the Cordilleras (UC) and the Cordillera Career Development College (CCDC) on April 23.
The agreements involve an exchange of faculty and students for instructional and research purposes, co-sponsoring of local and national conferences in areas of joint academic interest; exchange of educational materials, research publications, and instructional information; and programs like faculty immersion, workshops, student internships, and educational tours.
The agreements also stipulate the grant of scholarships and discounts to personnel of the PPSC-CARTC.
UC President Ray Dean Salvoza and CCDC President Sherry Junette Tagle represented their respective schools in the agreements.
A third MOA was signed with the Regional Internal Affairs Service in Cordillera, represented by Regional Director Senior Supt. Nestor Felix.
The PPSC-CARTC also clinched separate agreements with the Philippine Red Cross Benguet and the North Central Luzon District of the Soroptimist International, a global volunteer organization working for women.
The agreement with the women’s advocacy group is effective for five years and involves helping the barangays, public schools, the Philippine National Police’s women’s and children’s desks through educational programs, medical missions, feeding programs, school supplies, and environmental programs, such as tree-planting and cleanup drives.
The PRC-Benguet, represented by its chairman, Jaime Narvaez, and chapter administrator Oscar Paris, agreed to have a mutual coordination for the conduct of the mobile blood donation every year at scheduled dates and places convenient to both parties.
“The CARTC will schedule a regular blood donation activity to ensure continuous and ready availability of blood for its members for the whole year,” the agreement said.
