Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte thanked the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) during its 121st founding anniversary for its role in securing Philippine territories.

In her statement, Duterte expressed gratitude for the commitment of the PCG in strengthening maritime forces and in ensuring that water territories are “free from environmental threats.”

“I value the Philippine Coast Guard’s role in ensuring that our seas are free from environmental threats and admire your tenacity in performing maritime search and rescue when needed,” Duterte said.

She added that the PCG is an ally of the Marcos administration in its goal and commitment in reinforcing peace and security.

“Your theme, ‘PCG @ 121: Committed to go beyond towards nation-building’ stands truly relevant as the Marcos administration commits to strengthening our maritime forces, reinforcing the country’s peace and security and establishing our presence in our historical boundaries,” she said.

The PCG celebrated its 121st founding anniversary on Oct. 19, where President Ferdinand R. Marcos graced the event in Port Area, Manila. -ag
