Marikina tests city hall employees for COVID-19

Marikina City has started to conduct COVID-19 rapid testing among city hall employees as part of local government measures in combatting the ongoing pandemic.

Marikina City Mayor Marcy Teodoro said they aim to test 400 employees per day until next week since there are around 2,800 employees of the city hall. Employees who will test positive will immediately be brought to the quarantine facility of Marikina for treatment. No one tested positive as of Friday morning.

Teodoro said the testing is also meant to ensure the safety of individuals coming in contact with government employees who, in turn, talk and engage with a lot of people while on duty. The rapid testing of the city which is also tagged as surveillance testing is expected to continue and will be conducted in communities.

Meanwhile, the rapid testing for 5,465 tricycle and pedicab drivers in the city has been finished. Seven turned out positive. They will be undergoing confirmatory tests.
