Several LGUs seek new classification of community quarantine after June 15

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque disclosed on Monday that some local governments have appealed regarding their classification of community quarantine and clarified the final decision will still come from President Duterte.

Secretary Roque said Cebu City asked to be placed under MECQ after June 15 while Quezon province, Abra, Apayao, Caraga Region, and Lanao del Sur requested to be placed under GCQ.

Dagupan City, Pangasinan, Davao de Oro, Davao del Norte, Davao Oriental, Davao Occidental, Davao del Sur, Batanes, Pampanga, Angeles City, Nueva Ecija, Zambales, Cavite, and Cebu province sought to be put under MGCQ.

Roque said one of the main agenda in their meeting with the President today is to finalize the recommendation of the implementation of community quarantine in various areas in the country amid the appeals. The basis of the decision of the President “has always been case doubling rate, the critical care capacity, and concern for the economy.” – Report from Mela Lesmoras
