PNP deploys additional forces in Cebu City

Reinforcement will be sent to Cebu City due to a number of PNP personnel infected with the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the city.

Based on the latest data of the PNP, over 100 police officers have tested positive for COVID-19 and 3 have passed away in Cebu.

PNP Chief Police General Archie Gamboa admitted that their deployment is affected by the disease so they have sent additional police forces from Region 6 and 8.

In relation to this, the PNP is asking for a faster construction of their RT-PCR Laboratory in Cebu. The organization is awaiting the approval of the Department of Health (DOH) regarding the proper place for its proposed laboratory.

“We firmly believe that it is in protecting our own personnel that the PNP is able to protect and serve the Filipino people better,” PNP Chief Police General Archie Gamboa stated.

A total of 499 police officers have tested positive for COVID-19. However, the PNP Chief ensures the strict implementation of contact tracing in their organization.
