Senators doubtful on DOH data

Senators expressed doubt on the data reported by the Department of Health (DOH). Some of the lawmakers believe that the count of recoveries compared to the number of additional cases reported daily is unbelievable.

“‘Yung reporting style ng DOH, mas malala pa sa pagbago-bago ng panahon (The reporting style of DOH is worse than the changing weather). 38k recoveries in 1 day only shows there’s a problem with data interpretation. Worse, it’s giving people a false sense of security,” Sen. Joel Villanueva said.

Senator Francis Pangilinan said Duque should be fired from his post as he rationalized, “his proposals to address COVID ring hollow and empty when he condones incompetence and corruption and when his team continues to miss their targets for mass testing, contact tracing and in doing so has miserably failed to stop the spread of the disease.”

Meanwhile, Senator Angara said it is a “statistical judgment” adopted from latest WHO protocol on mild cases who no longer need to test negative “since they are considered well after 14 days without exhibiting symptoms.”

“So the data will change accordingly. Let’s observe the trend over the next few days before a rushing into a judgment based on one day results,” Angara suggested.
