LTFRB: PUV modernization program ongoing, March jeepney phase out not true

By Pearl Gumapos

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) on Saturday (Feb. 26) said the agency is continuously implementing the modernization program for public utility vehicles (PUV).

It’s a modernization program for all the PUVs,” LTFRB Executive Director Maria Kristina Cassion said during the Laging Handa public briefing.

“Patuloy natin itong ini-implement, being the largest infrastructure na program of our President. Wala naman po itong katotohanan,” she said.

Meanwhile, Cassion added that the fuel subsidy program has been expanded amid the continuous rise of oil prices.

We have already submitted to the DBM the pertinent documents at nananawagan tayo to expedite the downloading of the funds,” she said.

She also said that in preparation for the possible de-escalation to Alert Level 1, the agency along with the Department of Transportation, are recommending a 100% capacity among PUVs.
