Death toll from ‘Agaton’ reaches 172

The number of reported deaths due to Typhoon Depression Agaton has reached 172, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said Sunday, April 17.

According to the latest NDRRMC data, at least 583,994 families and 2,419 barangays from Regions 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12, Caraga, and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao have been affected.

Meanwhile, a total 16 individuals were reported injured and a total of 220 missing.

An estimated amount of P249,826,730 was the documented cost of damage to agriculture, while the damage to infrastructure is pegged at P6,950,000.

NDRRMC said 16 cities and municipalities are still under the state of calamity.

President Rodrigo Duterte on Saturday, April 16, led the distribution of assistance to families affected by Tropical Depression Agaton following his aerial inspection of the damaged areas in Capiz.-gb
