The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) reported a total of 28,052,265 registered SIM cards as of Feb. 1, or 16.6% of the 168,977,773 total numbers of subscribers in the country.

A total of 14,398,233 SIM cards have already been registered by Smart subscribers, while Globe recorded 11,436,706, and DITO had 2,217,326.

The SIM Registration Act regulates the issuance and use of SIMs, which are needed to operate mobile devices like phones and pocket wifi. It is expected to reduce spam texts, scams, and other mobile cyberattacks.

DICT Secretary Ivan John Uy asserted the need to protect digital infrastructure and improve cybersecurity and cyber defense to boost cyber resiliency.

“As we all know today, with all the opportunities available through digitalization, the threats and the risks are also out there. We need to expect that and we need to prepare for that,” Uy said.

The DICT reminded the public to be vigilant during the registration and register only through the following official links:

SMART – smart.com.ph/simreg or simreg.smart.com.ph

GLOBE – new.globe.com.ph/simreg

DITO – https://digital.dito.ph/pto/download/app

It is also urging the public to forward SIM registration-related concerns to hotline 1326 or to the following numbers:

SMART: 0947 714 7105

GLOBE: 0966 976 5971

DITO: 0991 481 4225
