MANILA – All regions in the country remain at minimal risk case classification with health systems capacity at low risk, a health official said Tuesday (March 22).

The COVID-19 cases nationwide is on a slow decline with an average of 490 cases reported daily for the period of March 15 to 21, Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said during an online media forum.

The current average of infections is 13%  lower than the previous week which recorded 564 cases.

“Batay sa ating datos, bumaba sa 805 cases ang severe and critical cases mula (Based on our data, the severe and critical cases went down to 805) 1,874 since mid-January,” Vergeire said.

As of March 20, data from the National Admissions by Health Status showed 1,403 admissions are asymptomatic cases; 2,173 are mild; and 2,498 are moderate.

Vergeire said the downtrend in the number of COVID-19 infections and severe and critical admissions could be attributed to increased vaccination coverage for the primary series of jabs and the booster shots.

On Monday, the Department of Health logged 3,572 new cases and 655 deaths for the week of March 14 to 20. (PNA
