Cloudy weather expected rest of week

MANILA — Expect cloudy skies for the rest of the week as Tropical Depression “Inday” enhances the southwest monsoon, Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Wednesday.

As of 3 p.m., “Inday” was last spotted 755 kilometers east of Basco, Batanes. It is forecast to exit the Philippine area of responsibility Saturday morning.

The tropical depression, which is moving east at 25 km per hour, is packing maximum sustained winds of 60 km per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 75 km per hour.

Monsoon rains are also forecast over Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley Region, and provinces of Bataan and Zambales.

The state weather bureau cautioned of possible flooding and landslides due to light to moderate with occasional heavy rains in these areas.

Other parts of Luzon, including Metro Manila, are expected to have occasional rains caused by the southwest monsoon.

PAGASA similarly warned of possible flooding and landslides due to light to moderate to at times heavy rains in these areas.

Visayas and Mindanao will also have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers caused by local thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening.

Weather specialist Ariel Rojas said the Visayas and Mindanao would generally have a sunny weather.

The state weather bureau also cautioned of possible flooding and landslides due to light to moderate to at times heavy rains in these areas.

PAGASA also issued a yellow rainfall warning in northern Zambales, Tarlac, and Nueva Ecija from 5-8 p.m., Wednesday. These areas are forecast to have 7.5-15 mm of rainfall.

The state weather bureau further issued a gale warning in Isabela, Aurora, Zambales, and Bataan. The state weather bureau warns fisherfolk and those with small boats not to head out to sea.

Moderate to rough coastal waters will also prevail over the rest of Luzon caused by moderate to strong winds.

Visayas and Mindanao are expected to have moderate coastal waters due to moderate winds.

PAGASA also sees a temperature range of 16-34 degrees Celsius across the country until Sunday.
