DTI recommends ‘gradual’ re-opening of dine-in restaurants

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has recommended the “gradual” re-opening of dine-in restaurants provided that they can implement the required health protocols.

Several recommended protocols of the DTI are the “No face mask, no entry” policy, social distancing and the regular sanitation of the area.

However, self-service, buffets, and salad bars are highly discouraged. Physical contact between personnel and customer is also prohibited.

“If possible, restaurant owners are encouraged to use technology. No physical contact,” DTI USec. Ruth Castelo has suggested.

According to some restaurant companies, they are also bent on bringing back the confidence of the public. The DTI made it clear that this recommendation is still subject to the approval of the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID). – Report from Daniel Manalastas
