Mandatory repatriation in Iraq began

Following the aggravating strain between the United States of America (USA) and Iran, which manifests in Middle East, President Rodrigo Duterte ordered the mandatory repatriation of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Iraq, as stated by the Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines, Baghdad. “Inatasan na po ng ating mahal na Pangulong Duterte and iba’t-ibang ahensya ng pamahalan ng Pilipinas, kasama na po ang embahada ng Pilipinas sa Iraq, para ilikas ang mga Pilipino dito sa bansa” (President Duterte has tasked the different arms of the Philippine government, including the Philippine embassy in Iraq, to move the Filipinos out the country), announced Chargé d’Affaires Jomar Sadie.

The embassy noted that said individuals still need to secure their tickets and exit visas. Said visas shall be issued by their employers. In the event of refusal by said bosses to issue the exit visa, the Filipinos were advised to get in touch with the embassy for it to talk directly to said employers.
