President-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. named former Davao del Norte Rep. Anton Lagdameo Jr. as the Special Assistant to the President (SAP) on Thursday, May 26.

Lagdameo will take the place of Jesus Melchor Quitain, the SAP of outgoing President Rodrigo Duterte since November 2018, after the first presidential aide Christopher “Bong” Go resigned to run for senator.

“We’ve asked Cong. Anton Lagdameo to fill in that position. It’s very sensitive and very important in the sense that we have known each other since he was a child,” Marcos said.

“He knows me very well. He has been with us, working with me for the past 10 years. It should be an easy position for him to pick up,” he added.

Lagdameo served as representative of Davao del Norte 2nd District for three terms from 2007.He is a descendant of a notable family in Southern Mindanao and the husband of actress and television host Dawn Zulueta. -ag
