MANILA — The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) on Friday lauded another honest worker at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) for returning the wallet accidentally dropped by a passenger.

Reno Erenea, a security guard, found a wallet containing PHP24,950 and 181,000 Korean won at the NAIA Terminal 1 on Thursday night.

Since the wallet also contained some IDs, Erenea asked help from the Paging Section, and also reported the incident to the Terminal Police Office.

The wallet belonged to a South Korean passenger, who was bound for Incheon that night. He was happy he was able to retrieve his wallet.

Earlier this week, the MIAA also commended an honest janitor for bringing to the lost and found section an envelope containing US dollar bills.

Jeffrey Almoguerra found an envelope with a “significant amount of US dollar bills” near the foreign exchange counter at the NAIA Terminal 1 on Tuesday.

Both Almoguerra and Erenea will be included in the list of airport workers who will be recognized by MIAA in February.

Every month, the agency recognizes NAIA employees for their honesty, efforts and accomplishments.

MIAA General Manager Ed Monreal reiterated his request to employees to continue setting a good example, as this simple act of honesty creates a good impression for the country’s main gateway.

NAIA made it to the Top 10 of the world’s most improved airports based on the 2018 World Airport Awards conducted by Skytrax, an international air transport rating organization.

NAIA placed 10th on the list based on the relative year on year quality performance by all airports featured in the World Airport Survey.

The World Airport Awards are voted for by air travelers in the largest, annual global airport customer satisfaction survey. For the 2018 Awards, the survey was conducted from August 2017 to February 2018.
