The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) has temporarily suspended the deployment of Filipino health workers due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) crisis in the Philippines.
This is in accordance with the Governing Board Resolution no. 09 signed by Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Secretary Silvestre Bello III.
Health workers affected by the suspension include medical doctors/physicians, nurses, microbiologists, medical biologists, medical technologists, clinical analysts, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, laboratory technicians, X-ray/radiologic technicians, nursing assistants/aides, operators of medical equipment, supervisors of health services and personal care AT repairmen of medical-hospital equipment.
The suspension aims to ensure that there are enough health workers present in the country amid the COVID-19 crisis.
The POEA has also temporarily suspended the negotiation for hiring or recruitment of Filipino health workers. – PTV News
