NBP records first COVID-19 case

A person deprived of liberty (PDL) at the New Bilibid Prisons (NBP) has tested positive for COVID-19.

The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) disclosed the inmate came from the NBP medium security compound. The male inmate was initially checked at the NBP hospital last Friday and was immediately referred to the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) where he tested positive for the disease.

The NBP has conducted contact tracing efforts amid the incident and have already isolated 40 PDLs. The medical personnel who took care of the inmate who tested positive are considered as suspected cases and currently in quarantine. – Report from Kenneth Paciente
