Ex-DOJ Secretary appointed as NAPOLCOM Commissioner

Former Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II has been appointed as the commissioner of the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM).

The appointment was confirmed by Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque. Malacañang expressed its confidence in the capability of Aguirre to make the police service more effective, credible, and responsive to the needs of the public.

The former DOJ chief resigned from his position after the disappointment of President Rodrigo R. Duterte over the dismissal of the case of alleged drug dealer Kerwin Espinosa Jr., drug lord Peter Lim, and other drug personalities.

Aguirre expressed his gratitude towards the President for his new appointment and the latter’s continuous trust. – PTV News
