DOTr, PPA unveil upgraded Batangas Port Terminal

By Myris Lee

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) and Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) unveiled on Tuesday, June 14, the upgraded Integrated Passenger Terminal Building (PTB) of the Batangas port in Batangas City.

DOTr Secretary Art Tugade and PPA General Manager Jay Santiago led the PTB inauguration ceremony.

The construction of PTB Phase 1 and Phase 2A that sits on a 15,000-square meter land houses fully-air conditioned lounges and persons with disabilities (PWD)-friendly facilities that can accommodate up to 4,000 passengers.

The rehabilitated PTB is expected to be hailed as the biggest terminal port in the country. It is expected to accommodate 6,000 passengers once the construction of Phase 2B is done.

The newly improved terminal is envisioned to propel economic and tourism progress in Batangas and in the whole Calabarzon. – gb
