Pro-federalism group seeks accreditation for May 2019 polls

MANILA — A group supporting the advocacies of President Rodrigo Duterte has filed a petition before the Commission on Elections (Comelec) seeking for accreditation as a national political party for the May 2019 polls.

Pederalismo ng Dugong Dakilang Samahan (PDDS) president Greco Belgica led the filing of the group’s petition for Registration and Accreditation at the poll body’s office in Manila on Monday afternoon.

“PDDS aspires for dignity, honor, pride and respect to life and humanity in the pursuit for democracy, freedom and justice for our beloved country the Philippines and the Filipino people. We are dedicated to our quest for a fair and just social life, pursuit equal opportunity, and crusade for an environment of peace, joy and harmony,” the group said in its eight-page petition.

Belgica noted that the organization is comprised by original followers of the President during the campaign for the 2016 presidential elections.

“We are filing a national political party composed of former allies during the campaign who are supporting his (Duterte) advocacy for change, fight against corruption, criminality, illegal drugs, terrorism, and pushing for Federal form of government,” he said.

The PDDS leader noted that they would like to be accredited so that they can join in the midterm polls.

“We are here to participate in 2019 election. We will fight corruption, illegal drugs and terrorism. We support Federalism,” he added.

Belgica said that they would be fielding candidates in the next national polls, noting that Special Assistant to the President Secretary Bong Go will be their number one candidate.

They will also support Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Asec. Mocha Uson, if she decides to run in next year’s polls.

On the other hand, he revealed the group’s platform of government which includes: katarungan (Justice), death penalty for heinous crimes, and corruption and right to bear arms; malayang kalakalan (free trade), the money, land and natural resources should be managed by the people, and not by the government and taxes should only be 10 percent, across the board.
